Q.	I saw you take lots of photos of us, but there is only one on the website. How can I see the rest?
To avoid cluttering the site we now only upload one shot of each boat. To see the rest, simply complete the request form under your photo and we will then upload all photos of that subject into a gallery page of its own. We will email you to say when it is ready.

Q.	There’s a sail boat in the background spoiling my photo. Can you get rid of it before processing the order?
As a matter of course, we “tidy up” all photos before printing or burning to disk. This includes getting rid of messy background clutter (where possible). If you have a particular requirement — just email us with your request.

Q.	What exactly is a Hi-Res File?
A.	This is a JPEG digital file, as you would get from any digital camera. We supply this on a CD, together with an edited version which we have cropped and adjusted in Photoshop. We also give you two TIFF versions, one for PC and the other for MAC.

Q.	How soon after you take the photos do they appear on the website?
A.	Where possible we try to upload all photos by noon on the following day. We upload in batches, so if you see photos from the day you were out, but not yours, try a bit later.

Q.	What is the photo quality like?
Most of our photography is now done with a Canon 1Ds which is a professional camera with a full frame sensor. This produces an 11mb RAW file which we can then edit in Photoshop as required. By comparison, the website photos are just 600 x 520 pixels so are vastly inferior to the end result. The quality of the final image depends on the degree of enlargement. If we are able to use most of the frame, then A2 prints and larger are quite feasible.
To show a typical example, the shot below was taken using our Canon 450 (10 Megapixel) on a late October evening as the QE2 was leaving Southampton. We’ve blown up one small area to illustrate the resolution. If you had a relative aboard you’d be able to identify them!

Q.	I can’t find my picture can you help me?
A.	Feel free to phone, or send us an email with your boat details, date and where the photo was taken and we will do our best to find you. Not all photos are good enough to put on the website. One of the biggest problems is avoiding image blur and although we take ten or more of each boat sometimes all are unusable.

Q.	How quickly will I receive my order?
A.	We try our utmost to process orders within 4 hours of receipt. We send the files to Photobox who do all our printing and they generally despatch within 24 hours. We will notify you of the despatch date on receipt of an order.

Q.	Do you undertake special photo-shoots?
A.	Wherever possible we will try to accommodate bookings. Call us on the mobile and if we are within reach we will arrange a rendezvous. You can then tell us what photographs you want taken. There is no commitment involved. We will put the photos on the website and you can choose whether or not to purchase them.
